ArchivalResource

County Fairs collection, circa 1994.

Kansas county fair research files and photos, compiled by Cathy Ambler. The collection includes copies of newspapers and fair listings, articles on fairs by other individuals (both local to Kansas and on a national level), notes and research materials from various clubs and other organizations typically involved with fairs (including the Kansas Women's Day Clubs and the Kansas State University Extension Office), and other such materials. The bulk of the collection are fair surveys conducted by Cathy Ambler in the mid-1990s. These surveys are organized numerically by survey number and document each county or other local fair in Kansas, with forms, maps, building information, historical materials and narratives, programs and other materials from fairs contemporaneous with Ambler's research, photographs, and other such materials. Also includes some information from the Kansas State Fair.
